VISA
You do not need a visa if you come from the European Union, most European countries, the USA, Canada, Cyprus, Israel, Georgia and CIS member states. The maximum period of stay is 90 days for six months.
The list of countries whose citizens do not need a visa to enter the territory of the Republic of Moldova is available on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova: https://mfa.gov.md/en/content/types-visas-requirements
CUSTOMS
Any person may enter and leave Moldova with an amount of 10,000 Euro in foreign or national currency. Amounts of money exceeding 10,000 Euro must be declared to customs. Other items that need to be declared to customs include, but are not limited to: works of art, historical artefacts, weapons, ammunition, explosive materials, toxic and dangerous substances.
CURRENCY
The national currency of Moldova is called Leu or MDL. One leu contains 100 bani. You can see what they look like, what are the denominations and protection features of banknotes issued by the National Bank of Moldova on the official website, or you can find out about Moldovan coins by visiting the special section.
CURRENCY EXCHANGE
Foreign currencies can be exchanged at banks or exchange offices. Most exchange offices operate only with such currencies as Euro, US Dollar, British Pound, Swiss Franc, Romanian Leu, Ukrainian Grivna, Russian Ruble and Turkish Lira. From the airport, hotels and on every street corner you'll find a currency exchange for US Dollars, Euros, Hryvnia, Canadian Dollars, Romanian Lei, Russian Ruble, and numerous other foreign currencies. The official exchange rate is best consulted in advance on the National Bank website (www.bnm.md).
CASH DISPENSERS (ATM)
ATM terminals are massively present on the territory of the country, including on the territory of the Chisinau International Airport, in the premises of the main banks and shopping centres. ATMs are multilingual, and in Chisinau you can often find multi-currency ATMs that dispense US Dollars or Euros in addition to Moldovan Leu. In villages or remote areas, the number of ATMs is low, so we recommend going to the countryside with cash lei in your pocket. You can determine the location of the nearest ATMs in the Point Money mobile app (iOS, Android).
CREDIT CARDS
Major credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, Maestro and American Express are accepted for payments in major hotels, car rental agencies, restaurants in Chisinau, as well as in some shops. However, most transactions are made in cash. The usefulness of credit cards is practically zero in small towns or non-touristy areas.
BUGET
As still an untapped destination for tourists, prices in Moldova will enjoy pleasantly. They are much lower compared to the rest of Europe, North America or big cities like Bucharest, Moscow or Kiev.
A room in a 5-star hotel will cost around 150 euros, and in a 2-star one - around 30 euros.

TRANSNISTRIA
Foreigners can enter the Transnistrian region by filling in a short form in duplicate and presenting it to the border guards together with their travel passport. Border guards check them and stamp one of the entry forms, but not the passport, returning both documents to the holder. The stamped entry form must be kept and handed in when leaving the region.
